This field of study is offered at the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art – full time master’s degree programme.
The studies in this field prepare students for work as art restorers.Students acquire theoretical knowledge as well as the necessary practical and manual skills. They learn how to identify a work of art and its damages, learn the technical and technological structure of objects. They master the methods of effective conservation practice enabling them to save historical objects and works of modern art. Students have the opportunity to test the theory from lectures during exercises, initially on dummies, then on historical objects. They carry out independent conservation projects with their professional documentation and description. The degree programme offers the opportunity to study four different specialisations: painting and polychrome sculpture; antique books, prints and leather; antique textiles (the only such specialisation in Poland); and sculpture and architectural elements.
