dr hab. Barbara Kowalewska, Associate Professor

Interior designer, specializing in exhibition design; educated at the Faculty of Interior Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw; MFA, 1995; Dr hab., 2015. She has worked at her home Faculty, where she has run the Studio of Exhibition Design, since 2016. Deputy Dean for part-time programmes, 2014/15; Deputy Dean for full-time programmes, 2016-2020.

Her more important realisations include designs for the “Murator” publishing house – fair stands and exhibitions (1996-1997); interiors of Warsaw underground stations – Śródmieście and Ratusz Arsenał (co-author, 1997); temporary exhibitions for the State Ethnographic „Murator” Museum in Warsaw (2003-2005); design and production of interiors as well as permanent and temporary exhibitions for the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów; recent projects: Markoniówka and the exhibitions: New exhibition at Chinese Cabinets. Recalling the memory of S.K. Potocki and his descendants and The works of Leonardo in Polish collections (2019). In addition, the design and implementation of the Senate Hall for the Medical University of Warsaw (2013); design and realisation of temporary exhibitions for the Royal Castle in Warsaw: The King is getting married!, “The Stockholm Scroll” and The World of Polish Vasas: Space – People – Art (2019). She collaborates with the National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad POLONIKA, for which she has staged exhibitions: The Armenian Cathedral in Lviv and its creators, and We’re going to America! Excerpts from the history of the American Poles (2019).

Winner of the Second Prize in the competition for the interior design of the Polish pavilion at Expo 2005, Aichi (Japan).
